It is important to keep the dumbbells in line with the ears and to keep the neck in a neutral position. Scott Mendelson performs three reps and then pauses for thirty seconds at the mid point of the shoulder press rep. Repeat this sequence a total of three pounds. The demonstration includes using a forty pound dumbbell in each hand which is most likely too heavy for most trainees at the starting stages of learning this movement. Start with a more conservative weight load and master the proper form before increasing the weight load.
