Squat With Chains

Adding chain resistance to squats improves peak power and balance. Chains have been used by powerlifters extensively for many years, but more athletes are catching on to these tactics over the last few years.

The weight load is highest on top as the chains leave the floor completely. There is a distinct de load when the chains touch the ground on bottom. The unstable nature of the chains require the core muscles and nervous system to engage with a high level of intensity.

Chains should only be added to squats for advanced trainees with an expert spotter in place.
