Side Lateral Raise

Dr. Eric Serrano MD demonstrates several execution techniques to address the posterior head of the shoulder.

Learn how to keep the tension on the targeted muscles instead of stressing ligaments and joints. Proper form forces you to keep the shoulder down and prevent shoulder impingement. Pain during this exercise may indicate a supraspinatus problem is in place. The supraspinatus is one of four muscles that make up the shoulder cuff.

Teach the triceps and long head of the shoulder to work together during the exercise. Rhomboid involvement can increase with the proper form. Expand the exercise range of motion with torso position options and stretch the shoulder capsule.
