Weight training strategically twice per day is one of the advanced tactics we have used to help clients gain muscle much faster. This is not just a matter of slapping together a couple of training routines to be done on the same day. Creating a bunch of fatigue and muscle damage is not the objective. We want to stimulate a wide threshold of muscle fibers while naturally promoting an anabolic hormonal environment.

Two A Day training rules:

  • Stick to scheduled training and meal times.

Two-A-Day Training strategies

There must be method to the madness which we can discuss in greater detail during a future article. In general the morning session will use higher loading with low to medium rep ranges which will be more taxing on the nervous system. Positioning a medium to high rep session 4 to 6 hours later for the same body parts takes full advantage of the muscle fiber stimulation created during the morning session.

Timing is everything

The ischemic strength training chest and back workout is an example of great morning session while 25-15-10-5 training fits perfectly 4 to 6 hours later. Here is another ground breaking strategy we use for advanced clients who must gain muscle as fast as possible. During the second week of a 2 X Day Muscle Growth strategy switch the session order to 25-15-10-5 to the morning and ischemic strength training to the afternoon. Training twice a day requires extraordinary recovery measures
