Take Action Now to Accomplish your Goals
Are you completely satisfied with your progress during 2005? Is there unfinished business around the waist line or did you go in completely the wrong direction this year? I have taken calls from several hundred people over the last month with a wide variety of concerns. Some with more aggressive aspirations than others for 2006, but as I tell everyone whom I have the pleasure to speak with “you must have a sense of urgency to reach your goals and must consistently execute a specific plan” Let’s face it many of you had the same goals at the start of last year, but never got around to making it happen or your strategies failed on you prematurely. I can help you solve the strategy problem with an endless number of resources at my disposal. My professional responsibility is to arm people with the tools needed for success while adapting specific plans to the needs of the client. Have a limited time to work out? No problem, have to eat on the run and your stress is high? Nothing new to me. Expect a magical fairy to rapidly reduce your body fat so that you have to do nothing to help yourself? No one can help you there. My point is that if there is a will, there is a better way! Sources of motivation come from many areas, perhaps a family reunion, wedding or vacation upcoming- great a specific date of an event gives you something to shoot for. Or are you in general not happy with what you see in the mirror? Whatever your source of motivation, use it to fuel your efforts for an extended a period of time. Motivation for a prolonged effort should be put on paper along with your goals so you can see the big picture regularly. Significant changes will not be made over night. Resolve to start a program and stick with it for several months. Take a look at the next Q and A to see how important long term consistency is to your success. Most fail to give a program even a solid month to work. There are an endless number of excuses that I will not review. Identify your roadblocks to success and develop strategies to overcome them! If you fall off the wagon for a day, get back on! Setbacks are inevitable, but how you deal with them will have a huge impact on your success. I ask you to take this last week of 2005 and make a decision to be successful in 2006, grab a sheet of paper and write down some goals, barriers to those goals and time frames for achievement- email this info to me and I promise to respond with feedback asap. Do not put off your physical goals for another year or decade, after all you have one body that you must take care of, no replacement parts! And why wait to look Great. Take Action! All I have to do is follow the program which fits very well to my schedule etc. I never thought everything could be so easy which is why I put things off for months before discovering your service from a friend. In 12 weeks I averaged a 2 lb loss of fat per week and I am more muscular than ever. Cannot wait for the next 12 weeks." Thanks Dwight W. Key West FL Consistency is a Key to Success You have mentioned metabolic and hormonal momentum a few times and site it as being very important for success. I have an identical twin and we respond well to the same training and nutrition routines. He is more consistent than I and sees much better results. I seem to be one good month followed by one average month etc and cannot get anywhere close to his success even though we train together. Is a lack of consistency my problem? Yes it is, your brother has executed his program more consistently and as a result his hormones are operating at a much better ratio than yours. Hormones govern all changes including fat loss, muscle growth, energy, strength etc. According to Dr. Serrano it can take anywhere from 3-9 consistent months of proper nutrition, training etc to reach the peak of your hormonal potential. Hormones can either facilitate your progress or cause a disruptive road block. Dr. Serrano well known for his work with hormones has reviewed tens of thousands of hormonal profiles and has tracked data over many years for his patients. “I have patients come in for blood work before their annual evaluation and when I get the results I can tell how they have been eating, sleeping, training over the past several months just by looking at the test figures and comparing to prior results.” In over 10 years of working with a wide variety of clients those who are most consistent over a long period of time experience the best results in terms of physique changes. There is no substitute for this investment. A few bad eating days and a week or so off of training out of every three months will not interfere with your progress. However the alternating good and bad month will not enable you to scratch the surface of your true potential. “I show patients prior hormonal work ups where their testosterone was twice as high as the current reading when they were consistently following a well designed program. The most common obstructions to hormonal progress is excessive alcohol consumption or stress.“ Over the last 2 months I have been extremely good with both diet and training. I had a few bad days, but that was it and I have a lot to show for. This was by far the most productive 2 months I have ever had which is no small statement since I have been trying to improve my physique over the last 10 years. I went from 14% body fat to 10% while improving my lean muscle mass and definition. This goal had eluded me for at least 5 years and I am at the lowest body fat% of my life at age 36- Thanks Scott! Jim T Wyoming Train Hard and SMART Scott I am really stuck here after 10 great years of training, I am what you would call a recreational bodybuilder- no interest in competition- just want to look and feel good! As every year goes by I feel like my gains continue to drop off. What can I do to get things going in the right direction again? I just turned 42, could I have low testosterone? Even with consistent change in training protocols the systems or techniques people use rarely evolve, as they rotate through the same programs every year as we are all creatures of habits. In this situation I look to innovate both training and nutrition programs to bust through staleness which not only brings new gains, but also makes training enjoyable again. Five clients come to mind that I have helped in similar situations over the last few months and I reviewed their files before answering this question. They averaged gains of 8 pounds of lean muscle mass and losses of 6 pounds of body fat over a 12 week period and all were over 40 years of age in already very advanced condition.
Perhaps the most common mistake I see amongst experienced recreational bodybuilders is this constant use of high reps which necessitates the use of relatively low loads. You are not a powerlifter by trade, but notice how thick many powerlifters are simply from using heavy loading. Instead of the typical 8-12 rep schemes move into the lower brackets for multiple sets for a change. Power-Building Training uses heavy loading which will stimulate the fast twitch fibers with the greatest potential for growth. Consider what is the difference between performing 6 sets of 6 reps of a squat vs 3 sets of 12? Same number of reps right? Ask one of my clients- a whole lot of weight is the difference as the set of 6 will allow for a much greater poundage per rep. You will still satisfy the iron gods with your sacred rep requirements yet your quality of work will dramatically increase. Now there is a limit to the number of sets one can do in a given workout and heavier loading will stress the nervous system to a greater extent making recovery outside of the gym more important than usual. A workout of this type may be limited to 4-6 exercises as there is a finite window of opportunity to train for natural people- about an hour not including warm up, otherwise your muscle destroying- fat storing cortisol level rises like the stock market after a great economic report. Stocks up – Good- cortisol up- BAD! The Brain Runs the Show! A profound connection exists between the nervous system (brain) and muscle growth. The brain will send a series of messages to the muscles to establish new muscular growth in the face of a training challenge which can only be triggered by the use of heavy loading. More experienced trainees can only stimulate the nervous system to support growth by using challenging loads. A stronger muscle is a bigger muscle! Dr. Serrano Steps in Now back to the hormonal question- Some men do not necessarily suffer from low testosterone, but high cortisol is the culprit as it negatively alters the vital testosterone:cortisol ratio. You might want to check out this avenue before extensive medical treatments. The easiest way to increase the availability of testosterone levels for many is simply to lower cortisol which is elevated by stress, short sleep cycles, poor eating and high training volumes to name a few. Amino Loading with 100% MR and Muscle Synthesis has worked fantastically well to bring cortisol levels back in check for my patients and I have the blood tests to prove it. One more thing- Scott mentions the added neurological stress and the recovery curve associated when training with higher loads- as a competitive powerlifter I began experimenting with amino acids many years ago to accelerate recovery, but I also experienced huge increases in both strength and lean muscle accumulation. My results varied based on how close I came to the ideal Amino Acid ratios, after a while I figured out exactly how to proportion the ingredients.
Years of my research have gone into the development of the 100% MR and Muscle Synthesis which have consistently produced great results for patients under my supervision. Besides the use of the highest quality ingredients, the specific ratios and absorption technology within these two items provide an unmatched level of utilization.—Delivering massive amounts of raw materials to muscle bellies and optimizing the hormonal environment. Anyway he has been working with you for quite some time and told me that he recently when to see you in Columbus in person. Apparently you helped him solve some problems with his squat which had baffled him for years. Do you see clients in person very often? Each year a large number of clients come to see me in person where I have the ability to perform an elaborate hands on assessment which includes range of motion evaluation and exercise instruction. I very rarely come across a client that does not need some adjustments in form for a variety of exercises. Watching a client perform exercises in person enables me to evaluate weaknesses, imbalances and motor patterns which can be fixed with the proper training program design. For example someone who can press twice as much as they can row has in imbalance which must be fixed to prevent injury and maximize future potential. The squat is the most common exercise where trouble arises and most people lack the proper understanding of how various foot and hip positions recruit different musculature. Based on the physical structure of a client and the desired targeted area I will instruct a specific squat form execution. For example the client you speak of has tremendous quads, but poor glute and hamstring development. Before he did one rep I knew what type of squat form he was using just by looking at him. Some adjustments in foot width, bar position and bottom target position enabled him to better recruit the entire posterior chain. Those interested in a live evaluation should contact me asap as slots are filling very quickly for the first quarter of 2006. A private session in Columbus Ohio costs $200 per hour and in most cases one hour is sufficient to accomplish the goals for a visit. Zero tolerance Plan 50-100% More Fat Loss in Month 2! Scott the Zero Tolerance Plan along with the Fat Reduce is awesome- Easy to follow and simple! I have lost 18 pounds of fat in 2 months and my arms look better than they have in years. My progress was much faster in month 2 than 1- why? and can I expect better results in month 3 than 2? I personally follow up with every single client that uses the Zero Tolerance plan and have success collecting feedback from 97% and yes a vast majority have experienced better results in month 2 than 1- in many cases twice as much fat loss during month 2! I would attribute this to building metabolic momentum as it takes time for the metabolism and fat burning hormones to peak when changing nutrition and training programs. The body thrives in a consistent environment when given enough time to adapt to the right program and metabolic signals. Your fat burning furnace will continue to increase each week using the Zero Tolerance Plan-melting away body fat for good. "Since adding the fat reduce to the zero tolerance plan I have seen a big difference Scott. I am now in my second month of the program and I can tell that progress is picking up quite nicely. Last month I lost 6 pounds of body fat and am now 11% which is the lowest I have ever been. I have no doubt that I will be looking good for my wedding in feb- Our wedding will be on the beach in Hawaii- and I plan to wear shorts and no shirt!!! " Amino Load to Heat up Your Fat Burning Metabolic Furnace Amino Loading with 100% MR and Muscle Synthesis makes the brain believe a great deal of food is coming into the system and as a result metabolic rate is increased to process this incoming “food” however the aminos have no caloric value leaving only stored fat to be burned. Several weeks of Amino Loading boost energy demand as the body must prepare for the large intake of “food” each day. As a result metabolism is racing at its peak and can only burn existing stored fat as fuel. Alpha Omega works differently as it helps to lower insulin levels (fat storage hormone) via many pathways and this too takes time to optimize depending on the person. The Fat Reduce especially needs time to do its best work as its focus is to manipulate the hormonal environment to support fat loss. This cannot take place overnight but we do have proof that the metabolism increases a great deal from day 1 to 30 based on our trial data which revealed an average increase of 400 additional calories burned per day. During the next trail we will measure at days 15, 30, 45 and 60. Based on client feedback and hormonal blood panels I would venture to say that the metabolic increase between day 30 and 60 will be significant. Beyond metabolic markers, the combination of Amino Loading, Alpha Omega and Fat Reduce , proper exercise and nutrition planning will facilitate fat loss by naturally manipulating all of the factors which govern fat loss. The Zero Tolerance plan gives you access to all of the success factors with the tested training and nutrition program included with your package. Best of all you can speak directly with Scott Mendelson for technical support to refine your program to fit your needs.
